What is the difference between the concrete used on driveways and ‘artisan’ concrete?

Common concrete used in driveways is formulated with cheaper materials and large filler stone to cut costs. Artisan concrete uses higher quality materials such as metakaolin clay, pure quartz sand, and finely ground marble.  Artisan concrete also may contain reinforcing fibers which will increase the durability of the material while maintaining its beauty.

Can I add decorative stone or glass to Abbicrete?

Sure! Abbicrete is formulated to allow you to add up to ½ lb. of decorative rock or glass to the bag. Just remember that the glass or decorative rock won’t show unless you sand/grind the surface.

How long does Abbicrete last?

Unlike commercial mixes packed in paper bags, Abbicrete will last indefinitely if kept in the sealed bag or in a dry airtight container.

Does Abbicrete make harmful fumes while it is curing?

No way! Wet concrete is a natural material and produces no harmful fumes while setting up.

Do I have to use all of my Abbicrete at once?

Nope! Abbicrete is packaged in a super-thick bag for convenience, but the artisan concrete can be moved to another airtight container. Just be sure to transfer it to the new container outside, and remember to wear gloves, goggles, and a NIOSH-approved dust mask for safety.

I ordered Abbicrete with fibers. Will the fibers show on my project?

No, the fibers naturally align away from the sides of your mold and will only be visible if the item is broken (uh-oh!). If you see fibers on the bottom of your object, where you poured the mix in, you can sand them off as you flatten the bottom. We have also had great luck melting the tiny fibers with a candle or lighter.
